Nerd rock legends...
"Island in the Sun" by Weezer. No matter how much you like or dislike Weezer, this is a pretty good song. I remember havibg this album at the end of High School before I went to college. It was the only Weezer album I owned, and I only bought it to give them a chance. I never was really down with Weezer until I got this album. It was more of a n album that I would listen to around the house that one that I pumped in my car with my friends. I remember putting it on and listening to it while I took a shower. I really remember this song in the context of the album, although you hear it on the radio quite a bit. It's one of those songs that people know the first few lines really well and they sing along, but ten they kindof drown out or second guess the lyrics. You know, like when you kind of wait until you hear the singer sing the lyric before you commit to doing so yourself.

I went to their show in a clown suit...
I am listening to "1979" by The Smashing Pumpkins. When I hear the song I immediately think of the video on MTV. I was toilet papering trees at that time, so I liked the video for that. I remember it was the second video to come out from the pumpkins on regular rotation, I think. More importantly, I remember that the Pumpkins came out shortly after Cobain died, and they were hailed as the next big thing. So I gave them a chance. I thought the songs were good, but it was just pop rock to me. It remained this way until college when my room ate turned me on to the box set. Now I think they are way underrated.

This ones from yesterday
I am listening to House of Cards by Radiohead right now on an internet radio station. It makes me think of being in my best friend from college's room, and also riding in the passenger seat of my girlfriends car when we first started dating. These are both great thoughts. I enjoy the thoughts more than the actual music.
I haven't listened to any music today, but...
I haven't listened to any music yet today, but the song I have in my head is Kashmir by Led Zeppelin. This song makes me think of High School when I started listening to a lot of classic rock. That was a turning point for the direction that I took in playing my own instrument. Not necessarily just that song, but others by Zeppelin and other contemporary artists. I also think of when Puff Daddy remixed the song. What was that all about? It was so bad that it made me like the original song so much more.
